Duck, North Carolina

Duck, an attractive seaside village located between Corolla and Southern Shores, boasts some of Dare County's finest housing, shopping and dining.  This is a village where you can stroll around to experience friendly chit-chat with shopkeepers and passersby, watch windsurfers cross the sound, or meander through quiet forests and sand dunes.

Earning its name from the bird that was once so widely hunted here.  Duck is a peaceful, quiet town; yet it has grown tremendously in the past several years.  Only 35 years ago, Duck was characterized as a "fishing village," and the U.S. Navy operated a bombing range just north of town, restricting travel there.

Today, you won't see bombs on nearby beaches-this is definitely an area of exclusive neighborhoods.  On the northern edge of the village, just past Sanderling, lies the Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary, which has hiking trails for nature lovers to pursue.
