About Rick...

Originally from Binghamton, New York, I spent years vacationing on the Outer Banks.  My family used to stay at the Cavalier Hotel in Kill Devil Hills year after year. It wasn't until we could no longer stand the hassle of trying to reserve our desired week and unit - nearly one year in advance - that we finally invested in a vacation home of our own. Now, we could call the shots and vacation when it was convenient for us - not the hotel.

In 1992, I was working as an accountant in Boston, Ma, when I decided to pack up my belongings and start a new life in Nags Head, North Carolina.  The corporate life style, grueling commutes to work, and the extremely high cost of living made the move an easy one.

I'm an avid ice hockey player having played all through my childhood up and through college. I also sponsor a Men's League team in Chesapeake, Virginia. While I travel an hour and 15 minutes to enjoy my favorite past time, I do not have to go far to take advantage of other favorites - like body boarding, surfing, swimming, and relaxing on the beach.

Picture at left shows me (back row third from the right) - playing on a tournament team in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where we came in first place, April 2005.

My other favorite hobby is playing music. I often play out with my good friend and colleague, Kelly Roberts. Pictured (left) here are Kelly (left) and I (right) playing the deck party at the former Quagmires in Kill Devil Hills. More fun playing below at the Outer Banks Brewing Station.    In addition, I sponsor three sports teams, the "Drumm Runners" girls soft ball team, the RE/MAX men's hockey team in Virginia and the "OBX Storm" men's soccer team - pictured below.
The OBX Storm, pictured left, came in second place in the Raleigh State Games Soccer tournament in June 2005. I'm in the orange shirt back row.

As an Accounting graduate from St. Bonaventure University in Olean, New York, my financial background has been an asset in assisting clients in the purchase or sale of resort real estate.

Each year I am consistently a TOP Realtor in the RE/MAX office and have amassed more than $150 million in sales since 1992. I've served as the Broker-in-Charge for the Nags Head RE/MAX office and have since relocated to the main office in Kill Devil Hills.

As a Resort Real Estate Specialist at RE/MAX Ocean Realty I continually look for ways to improve so that I may better serve my clients. By earning the CRS, GRI, ABR, and CMP designations, I have the experience, skill and confidence to assist home buyers and sellers at all levels.

Certified Distress Property Expert (CDPE)
A real estate professional with specific understanding of the complex issues confronting the real estate industry, and the foreclosure avoidance options available to homeowners. Through comprehensive training and experience, CDPEs are able to provide solutions for homeowners facing hardships in todays market, specifically
short sales.

Certified Residential Specialist (CRS)
The Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) is the highest designation awarded to sales associates in the residential sales field and recognizes professional accomplishments in both experience and education. Only 5% of all REALTORS have earned this prestigious credential.

Graduate REALTOR Institute (GRI)
Awarded for completing extensive real estate education in marketing, agency, property management, sales, and law.

Accredited Buyer Representative Designation (ABR)
The designation requires extensive training on buyer agency practices and procedures, passing a written National Exam, and having actual experience in Buyers Representation. More that one million people in the United States are licensed to sell real estate and of those licensees, fewer than one in 500 is an Accredited Buyer Representative.

Certified Marketing Professional (CMP)
Awarded by the National Association of Home Builders and is based on sales and marketing experience in the new home building industry along with meeting extensive education requirements.

Tim Reynolds playing at Chili Peppers in Kitty Hawk - and at the Brewing Station in Kill Devil Hills.  Tim tours and plays with the Dave Matthews Band - so it was a real thrill when Tim played here. Tim now calls the Outer Banks home.
